TEMO 1000 is a uniquely design from a French company.  The 1100w motor is portable, silent, sleek, weighing only 35 lbs, including a removeable 13 lb. battery, with propulsion equivilent to about 3hp. 
 
It is shaped like a rudder, enabling it to make tight turns and be efficient at low speeds.  The TEMO1000 is a great, environmentally friendly means of propulsion for both your dinghy and up to 26 foot, 3000 lb. sailboat.   A cool feature is the retractable tiller which gets the tiller out of the way when you aren't using it (a big plus on many sailboats!)  In addition, the shaft is adjustable to suit both a short (15") and long (20") transom so one motor can work on both a dinghy and sailboat with a slight adjustment to the shaft height.
 
The motor is easy to install on your transom from inside your boat or in the more traditional, over the water method because the bracket rotates 360° (helps avoiding back strain reaching over the transom to install the motor!) 
 
Range is about  50 minutes at full speed and about 1.5 hours at half speed on a small tender or a small sailboat.
